Google Plus can transform and empower your real estate business to a new level of success. It is that simple. Over the next few articles we will show you through a broad stroke view, some basic principles of how to empower your real estate business through authentic engagement on Google Plus.
Recently, I attended a class at our local board of realtors on syndication. The class was taught by one of the vendors on how syndication is a key component of successful real estate marketing. It was a very informative class on how they access the current data from the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) with the ability to syndicate the curated data out to various sites that deal directly with real estate. Sites such as: Trulia, Zillow, and Realtor.com, et al. Their web-based process pushes data out to various sites similar to the process that HootSuite uses to syndicate articles online.
Throughout the class, I noticed that Google was never mentioned. I heard about Yahoo, AOL, and Craig’s List among others, but nothing about Google. After the presentation was completed, I asked the vendor representative why nothing was mentioned about Google? Her response was, “Google does not do real estate”. I proceeded to ask her a couple more simple questions about Google with regards to Google indexing everything, but the only response I could get was, “you probably know more about this stuff than I do”. Now, it was not my intent to create a level of discomfort for the salesperson, but rather to inquire as to why Google had not become a part of their program; and then it hit me. Google does not “do real estate”. Google does not need to “do real estate”, because Google “is real estate”.
When is the last time that you performed a Google search for a residential address? What was the result? Your search probably came up with links to various websites such as: Trulia, Zillow, and Realtor.com as well as property profiles, pictures, and an estimated value. Coupled with using Google to search, it is important to have a clearly defined and properly developed Google Plus profile. Google will take your profile and index it along with all areas of the web that you research. As a realtor, this translates into further SEO indexing of your real estate websites and will connect with any real estate search you perform. Connecting your Google Plus profile to your website through Google Authorship along with social media channels will help you demonstrate expertise and a high level of professionalism to those who are looking for you.
Google Plus is rapidly becoming the central hub that successful real estate professionals and other marketing experts are tapping into, to provide them with the proper exposure that they desire. Google has Authorship. Google owns YouTube. Google has maps. Google has search. Google has analytics. Google is real estate in practically every sense of the word. Google has the power to transform and empower your real estate business to a new level of success provided that you give it the proper information.
